Who We Are
Korean Freedom Alliance (KFA) is a private non-profit, IRS Code 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization based in Washington, DC. Our mission is guided by the belief that South Korea’s freedom will be in danger if the efforts to free North Korea fail.
KFA was founded in 2002 by a conservative group composed of Korean War veterans, civic leaders and other individuals concerned about South Korea's future under constant threat from the North. The organization has Chapters in Seoul and six major U.S. cities.
KFA’s functions include 1) public campaigns for freedom and human rights for the North Korean people, 2) campaigns to protect national securiy and freedom of South Korea by discrediting and weakening the leftist forces in South Korea, 3) supporting efforts to rescue North Korean defectors who are hiding in China, 4) supporting North Korean defectors during their resettlement in the U.S., and 5) countering the pro-North Korea, anti-Lee Myung Bak, and often anti-American activities of ethnic Koreans living in the U.S.
Some of our activities are conducted in concert with other anti-communist organizations, such as the North Korea Freedom Coalition. KFA helped found NKFC in 2003 as a charter member and played a major role in passing the North Korea Human Rights Act through the Congress in 2004.
본 연맹은 친북좌익반미 단체들이 미국에 우후 죽순 처럼 생겨 교포사회를 선동하며 조국의 자유 민주주의 체제기반을 혼란에 빠지게 하는 공공연한 이적활동을 전개하고 있는데 대처하기 위하여 2002 년 6월, 예비역장성들, 미국 국방성 장성들, 한국 전쟁참전 용사들, 우국 반공 인사들, 우국 민주인사들, 그리고 각 단체장들이 참석해서 미국방부 한국전쟁 50주년 기념사업 단장 Maj. Gen. Nels Running의 기조연설로 미국 수도 워싱턴에서 창설됬습니다.
본 연맹은 교포사회에 북한공산주의 사상침투를 저지하고, 중국내 탈북자들의 자유세계로의 구출을 지원하며, 구출된 탈북자 들의 미국 정착적응 교육, 북한에 관한 세미나, 대북한 조국안보, 한반도 관련 미국의회 입법 지원, 북한 주민의 자유와 인권 그리고 민주화운동을 목적으로 미국 7개 대도시와 서울에 지부를 두고 친북공산 좌경세력을 발본 색원하여 미국 교포 사회 침투를 단호히 대처할 것입니다.
Our Goal
Korean Freedom Alliance is engaged in a variety of activities that are ultimately geared to the following goals: 1) to achieve freedom and human rights for the North Korean people, 2) to protect the freedom and democracy of the Republic of Korea, and 3) to achieve peaceful unification of the Korean peninsula based on freedom and democracy. What our logo means
The green Korean peninsula represents peaceful reunification of the country. The map is surrounded, or embraced, by the two complementary parts of the Taeguk circle of South Korean flag, where Taeguk symbolizes the harmony of the two sides of every aspect of the universe: heaven and earth, light and dark, and positive and negative.
