About Opinion

 

The new on-line project Opinion is expected to be the most unique function of this website that makes KFA stand out among other NGOs and think tanks that handle North Korean issues. Despite the world-wide activities by countless human rights organizations for promoting human rights in North Korea, brutalities continue there because the governments of the US and South Korea are afraid to pressure Kim Jong Il and are turning the blind eyes to the miserable situation, foolishly thinking that appeasing, and negotiating with, the regime might lead to denuclearization.

Opinion’s major goal is to strengthen the policies of the U.S. and South Korean governments.  So far, the lack of will and the inept policies produced by it—- on the part of these governments-- has been the underlying reason for the continuing failure in dealing with North Korea in both nuclear and human rights areas. One of the Opinion articles, “How to Deal with North Korea: Countering Its Strategic Deceptions,” discusses the three fundamental causes of the weakness of the US and South Korean governments.

In the ensuing paragraphs of the current article, “About Opinion,” the weakness of the South Korean government in particular — along with some of the causes behind such weakness and what must be done to reverse the trend — will be discussed.
